i got a couple of these flyers with this heart-rending message on them:
"We Seek God's Assistance
Central Bank of Kuwait"
so God, if you read this: you may not know this (oh, actually you probably would. but still), but the central bank of kuwait is so far up shit creek without a paddle that you're the only one who can help them. thanks bye

Hey, wait! That's a normal thing, isn't it?
"In God We Trust" isn't that on the dollar bills/coins? And "God zij met ons" ("God be with us") is on the edge of Dutch (2-)Euro coins!
Maybe those aren't proper cries for help, but you could see it as a more polite way of asking help. A totally misguided way at that, but still, you can't blame them from trying, can you?

"in god we trust" is a completely different warped statement, but "god be with us" sounds to me like shorthand for "ok we know we were kind of the pilot test audience for capitalism. it's now out in the wild and well, wow, let's just hope everything is ok once all this blows over", for which another yay for holland.
